had a good idea.. i think .. but apparently its impossible so I wont get too excited. i woke up - read that widow's address in the papers - the hugely dignified address at her husbands funeral - repatriated from afghanistan - thought.. well they must be starving out there for some light relief. so i rang the producer on la cage aux folles and said how about - the week after we finish in the west end - we take out a version of the show - i mean a skeleton cast, a piano, some wigs and frocks and we take a concert version out to afghanistan and we give them a bit of a west end show in their own back yard - play a couple or one night and then fly back???? apparently the complicatons with insurance etc etc make this kind of thing almost impossible. the hardest thing too though is that all things la cage ( includin me) are being flown out to new york straight away to get ready for the broadway show. what a shame - i never got as far as asking any of the other cast if they would be up for it but.. actually - itd be great just now to get a little concert of say three or 4 west end shows - coupla songs each and take that! but there we are - its in the pipeline and if i sow the seed now maybe something might grow. meantime.. first show back at la cage tomoro night.. gulp.. all seems amazingly familiar and yet somehow utterly foreign!! anyhow hear goes, they are going to sell the album in the foyer too. xx
